Biography

Jaime is CEO of Cerebral Assets, LLC, a strategic intellectual property consulting firm, and is certified as an Arbitrator/Mediator by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).  After 25 years of practicing as a patent attorney, Jaime started Cerebral Assets to help clients develop licensing and asset management strategies and to assist clients in their execution of those strategies.  Jaime’s clients vary from start-up entities to Fortune 100 companies.  Over the course of his career, Jaime has managed hundreds of patent litigations, while representing both plaintiffs and defendants.  Jaime has, initiated, executed and negotiated licensing programs that have generated well over $1B. After beginning his practice for seven years at the top intellectual property firms, Fish & Neave and Kenyon & Kenyon, Jaime spent about 16 years at Sony Corporation, where he managed or led projects including global litigation matters, in/out licensing and mergers and acquisitions of intellectual property based entities. 

Jaime served on the Board of Directors of MPEG LA for a decade and was Chairman of the Board for over two years.  In the mid 2000’s he was invited to join an IPR Experts Group at the invitation of the Chinese Government, to help develop and draft the first IPR policy in China for a standards-based licensing program.  Jaime is currently an Adjunct Professor at one of the top law schools in the United States, the University of California at Irvine, where he uses his experience to instruct students in the courses “The Business and Law of Patent Licensing” and “Patent Litigation.”
